If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency services. Closer Singles is not an emergency-response service.
Keep early conversations on Closer
- Use Closer messaging while you get to know someone. Moving immediately to text, email, or another app can make safety controls less effective.
- Be cautious if someone pressures you to leave the platform, refuses reasonable questions, or gives inconsistent answers.
- Never share passwords, verification codes, financial account details, your Social Security number, or your exact home or work address.
Watch for scams and financial pressure
- Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, bank information, or investments to someone you met through the service.
- Warning signs include urgent medical or travel stories, promised investment returns, requests to transfer funds, and repeated excuses to avoid meeting or video calling.
- Do not accept packages or open accounts for another person. Stop communicating and report suspicious requests.
Use profiles and verification thoughtfully
- A verification badge can add confidence, but it is not a guarantee of identity, intentions, or safety.
- Look for consistent photos and profile details. A reverse-image search may help identify stolen photos.
- Do not share intimate images. Anything sent digitally can be copied or distributed without permission.
Plan a safer first meeting
- Meet in a busy public place and avoid a private home, hotel room, or isolated location for an early date.
- Tell a trusted friend where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to check in.
- Arrange your own transportation, keep your phone charged, and maintain control of your food and drinks.
- Limit alcohol or anything that could impair judgment. Leave at any time if you feel pressured or uncomfortable.
Consent and respectful behavior
- Consent must be clear, voluntary, informed, and ongoing. It may be withdrawn at any time.
- Harassment, threats, stalking, coercion, sexual violence, trafficking, impersonation, and non-consensual intimate content are prohibited.
- Closer Singles is for adults age 18 and older. Report any account that may involve a minor immediately.
Protect your account and location
- Use a unique password and never share a sign-in or verification code.
- Closer Singles may use approximate location for discovery. Do not publish your exact daily routine, home address, or workplace details.
- Sign out of shared devices and review saved-password access on devices you do not fully control.
