Terms of Service

Effective August 2, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Closer Singles, a dating and matchmaking service operated by Closer Dating LLC (“Closer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Eligibility and account responsibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement. You must provide accurate information, maintain one authentic personal account, protect your password, and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorized access. Accounts may not be transferred, sold, shared, or created for another person without that person’s lawful and informed consent.

2. Dating-service expectations

Closer helps adults discover and communicate with other members. We do not guarantee matches, compatibility, identity, conduct, availability, or relationship outcomes. Use good judgment, protect your personal information, meet in public, and review our Dating Safety guidance. You are responsible for your interactions with other members.

3. Verification and safety checks

We may use email verification, age gates, photo comparison, facial-liveness checks, automated screening, moderation tools, and manual review to protect the community. Verification reduces risk but does not guarantee a member’s identity or intentions. You agree not to evade, manipulate, or interfere with safety controls.

4. Member content and license

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Closer a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and promote the service. You represent that you own or have permission to use your content and that it does not violate anyone’s rights.

5. Prohibited conduct

You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. Prohibited activity includes illegal conduct; minors or age misrepresentation; sexual exploitation or abuse; child sexual abuse material; trafficking; non-consensual intimate content; impersonation; scams; harassment; threats; hateful conduct; explicit profile content; malware; scraping; unauthorized automation; and attempts to defeat security, verification, moderation, or payment controls.

6. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement

You may report a profile, message, or safety concern through in-app reporting or our support page. We may investigate, preserve evidence, restrict features, remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, issue warnings, or contact appropriate authorities when reasonably necessary. Enforcement decisions may use automated signals and human review. Appeals may be submitted through support.

7. Subscriptions, add-ons, and billing

Prices, billing periods, plan features, and applicable limits are shown on our public Pricing page before purchase. Paid subscriptions renew for the disclosed billing period unless cancelled before renewal. Day passes expire after their stated duration. Purchased Roses and boosts are digital features subject to the description shown at checkout. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers and may also be governed by their terms.

8. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel renewal through the available account or billing controls. Cancellation prevents future renewal but does not ordinarily retroactively refund time already provided. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy and applicable law.

9. Communications

We may send essential account, security, verification, safety, support, and billing messages. Promotional communications are optional where required by law and may be disabled using the account controls or unsubscribe instructions. Standard carrier or internet charges may apply.

10. Third-party services

The service may use or link to third-party services, including payment, email, hosting, identity, moderation, analytics, and social-media providers. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

11. Service changes and availability

We may update, test, limit, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain security, comply with law, respond to misuse, or improve the service. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may update these Terms and will post the effective date and provide additional notice when legally required.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Closer disclaims implied warranties and is not responsible for member conduct, offline interactions, relationship outcomes, or losses caused by information members choose to share. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Closer Dating LLC and its owner, officers, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Any aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Closer during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or $100, except where a different limit is required by law.

13. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Closer Dating LLC against third-party claims arising from your content, your unlawful or abusive conduct, or your material violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally. Courts with lawful jurisdiction in New York may hear unresolved disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
